Dust & your Case
When your computer is running, there is a fan that is used to cool
the inside of the case and all the components. This fan acts as a very
good air cleaner drawing in anything in the air and depositing dust and
other stuff on the inside. Too much dust can inhibit the cooling effects
of the fan and can lead to overheating and possible system failure. It
is common practice to clean out the dust that collects at least once a
year depending on how dusty the environment is. In some cases if the PC
is located close to a kitchen, airborn grease can mix with the dust creating
a thick sludge that can stick to and corrode the components inside. In
most cases a can of air will be sufficiant to remove most of the dust,
however in sevear cases, compressed air not exceeding 30 psi in nessesary.
This is something that can be done by most users if you feel comfortable
opening the case, if not call your computer service provider.
